Ancient goddesses-mother

The origin of the Mother's Day is found in ancient Greece and Rome, where the cult of the so-called " mother-goddesses. They symbolized fertility and fertility, and their reverence was guaranteed to farmers, among others. Abundant yields.

The first European custom similar to Mother's Day, which appeared from seventeenth-century England, was "Mother's Sunday." The holiday (holiday) was celebrated every year on the fourth Sunday of fast. On that day, the family first prayed in the church, and then the mother was gifted with flowers and sweets in exchange for the blessing received.

May 26 - Only in Poland

Mother's Day is celebrated in many countries, but in different dates. The earliest Mother's Day celebrates the Norwegians, because already the second Sunday in February. Very often Mother's Day is associated with Women's Day (March 8th). In the United States and in South American countries this day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May. In South Korea, they do not have Mother's Day, but they have Mother's Day, which is celebrated on March 8. May 26 Mother's Day we celebrate only in Poland. The first time was celebrated in 1914 in Krakow. This is a unique day not only because of a unique date.

Unusual gifts

In most countries this day celebrates similarly. Mothers are usually gifted with small gifts and flowers, but sometimes there are exceptions. In Italy, for example, we have additionally received their heart-shaped cake from their children.
