Do you like to move around your home or office while working? It's perfectly normal, everyone needs a change after all. However, if the Wi-Fi signal at your chosen location is too weak, it can be very frustrating. One way to deal with it is to use your Android phone as a Wi-Fi repeater.
1. Using the built-in Wi-Fi repeater
To use your phone as a Wi-Fi repeater, you can turn on Wi-Fi and phone hotspot at the same time. However, this is not an option available on every smartphone, so check it first.
2. Enable the amplifier in Developer options
If the above method does not work for your model, it is possible that the feature is supported on your phone but is hidden by the brand. You can try turning it on in Developer Options.
3. Using the Wi-Fi Repeater application
In the event that none of the above methods work, you can use a special application. One such application is Wi-Fi Repeater. It will work fine on almost any Android phone as it can be used on phones running Android 4.2.2 (JellyBean) and above. To use it, first download and install it. Then connect your phone to the Wi-Fi network. Enter the application and touch the Wi-Fi icon, this way you will share the network. You will receive a password or QR code that you can use to connect your other device to the network. Entering the network requires you to manually add proxy settings. This way, you can access the extended Wi-Fi connection on the other phone as well. To do this on a computer, connect to the Wi-Fi network generated on the phone using the password. Open the control panel on your computer and then go to Network and Internet <Internet Options. Go to the Connections tab and select LAN Settings. In the Proxy server, enter the same IP address and port from the application.
4. Net Share No Root Tethering
Another useful app of your choice is Net Share No Root Tethering that runs on Android 6 and above. Download it to devices on both phones. Then connect your phone to the Wi-Fi network. Then click on Start Wi-Fi hotspot. Then connect your second phone or computer using the password provided by the application. In the app on the first phone, you need to turn on the WPS switch. On the other phone, turn on the Net Share No Root Tethering app and select Connect. This way you will get an enhanced Wi-Fi signal on the other phone. If you want the same on your computer, do exactly the same as for the Wi-Fi Repeater application.
As you can clearly see, sometimes even having an old phone model is enough to be able to use it as a Wi-Fi network repeater. This kind of action will come in handy in many different situations, so it's best to check the possibilities in advance.
