Smart TVs are becoming extremely popular. No wonder, they finally allow even more full use of the functions of modern television. You can also browse the internet and use various applications, such as YouTube. Another advantage of Smart TV is also the ability to connect them to peripheral devices, including a smartphone. In this way, it is easy to display, for example, photos from a phone on the television. The smartphone can also replace the remote control.
Connecting a smartphone to a TV with an HDMI cable.
A TV that does not have WiFi requires an HDMI cable. The phone must have purchased a special MHL Micro-USB to HDMI adapter. Thanks to this connection, you can display images from your phone on the screen, but at the same time it absorbs some system resources, which slows down the device.
Connecting a telephone to a TV set – WiFi-Direct
Miracast technology works in a similar way to a virtual HDMI cable. In this way, you can share content between two connected devices. Thanks to this it is also easy to duplicate the screen from a smartphone to a larger TV screen. You don't have to search for content and it will be available quickly.
The first step you need to take is to check if your phone supports the synchronization feature. To do this, enter options and search for any of the following phrases:
Then - according to the TV's instruction manual - you need to activate the option of connecting peripherals.
On the phone, select the appropriate icon, for example Smart View. After clicking, you need to find the right TV name. If it is not visible, you may need to restart the TV and phone. If synchronization occurs, the picture from the phone screen appears on the TV screen. Then everything you do on your phone will appear on the big screen.
If your smartphone does not have a Smart View function or similar, you must install an application such as Miracast. It describes step by step how to synchronize devices.
Phone as a remote control.
The smartphone can also be used as a convenient remote control to operate your Smart TV. The phone does not even need an infrared port (although some smartphones have it), because the control is done thanks to WiFi. A special application is used for this. You can choose, for example: Universal remote control (manufactured by ZaraDesigns); Universal tv remote control (produced by Computer Geek); Remote control (by Tools4TV).
Of course, each connection of new peripherals with each other requires configuration. It is more convenient to do this automatically because the manual configuration may introduce some errors. However, at the same time it allows you to choose a specific TV model that you have.
