In what situations is it worth restoring the factory settings of your phone? First of all, when you want to sell it, and also if you accidentally change its settings so much that it is difficult to return to the initial state. In such situations, restoring the state from the factory is the easiest and, contrary to appearances, the fastest. It is also worth checking if the phone is slow, freezes, etc. Perhaps this is the solution. The more so that returning to factory settings is not complicated.
Before you start the factory reset:
Before you start restoring factory settings, remember that during this process, all data, such as photos, will be deleted from the phone and all applications will be disconnected. This is an irreversible process, so back up anything you want to keep to a safe place, such as your computer. It's always a good idea to make regular backups.
The process looks different depending on the phone model. For Android models, however, it's pretty similar from phone to phone.
Factory Reset - Xiaomi:
In the case of Chinese Xiaomi, its software is quite specific. For this reason, in addition to downloading all data, make sure that you have logged out of all applications. In many cases, this even includes having to log out of your Xiaomi profile. Importantly, the phone will not always remind you of this. However, skipping this step can lead to errors, so you should always do it. Before logging out, make sure you know your login and password to be able to recreate your profile.
In order to restore factory settings, go to Settings, and there find Backup and reset. Next go to Factory Reset. Reset phone will appear at the bottom of the screen. After clicking on it, you will have to enter the password or PIN that you enter when starting the phone. The whole process will then start automatically.
Factory Reset - LG:
In the case of LG, the process is very similar to that of Xiaomi. However, logging out of the app is bypassed. Just go to Settings, then Restart & Reset Settings. Go to Factory Reset. The Reset phone option will appear. Depending on the model, you will need to enter a password or a PIN. The settings will be restored automatically.
Factory Reset - Android Phones:
For other brands of Android phones, the factory reset process is almost the same. You always have to go into Settings and find the reset option. They may have slightly different names, but they are still easy to find. It's a good idea to use the search engine at the top of the Settings app. The keywords "Reset", "Reset", "factory settings" should facilitate the process and help you quickly find the right option. Typically, you'll need to enter a password or PIN that you entered when you started your phone.
Factory Reset - iOS:
iOS phones have a slightly different way of doing a factory reset. Typically, this process is called "factory reset" or "reset". Also in this case, don't forget to make a backup.
- Even before you proceed to zeroing, remember to log out of the tracker. Go to Settings and Find My iPhone - turn off location. You can do it not only on your phone, but also on your computer.
- To factory reset your iPhone, go to Settings, General and Reset. Several options will appear on the phone screen, such as clearing only settings, resetting the home screen, etc. Among them, select Erase All Content and Settings. In the case of a code-protected phone, you will need to enter it.
- After confirming the operation, the factory settings will be automatically restored. You can also do it via computer, but then you need to know the code.
- After a factory reset, you will need to set up your phone again, just like when you bought it new. So you need to spend extra time on it.
It may happen that you do not remember the phone code. In this case, you can also restore factory settings. Then start the phone in safe mode. You do this by connecting it to your computer. Each model may have a slightly different combination of buttons to enter emergency mode. In most cases, it is responsible for pressing the volume or power buttons at the same time. From the computer level, restoring the factory settings is done using iTunes or Finder. They automatically detect your phone.
